On Wednesday, July 12, the House Appropriations Committee approved $271.703 million for State Department humanitarian demining programs in the FY24 budget. This is an over $7 million increase from last year and an amazing display of support from the House.
The committee also recommended an $80 million allocation for demining in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as $2 million for demining in Nagorno Karabakh, continued funding for Afghanistan, Colombia, Syria, Ukraine, and the West Bank, and increased funding for Angola, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.

The budget will now proceed to the House floor for a House-wide vote.
