On July 27, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved $23.068 million for the Army’s Humanitarian Demining Research & Development program, meeting the request supported by HALO.
The HD R&D program creates new demining technology, specifically designed to clear landmines and other unexploded ordnance and makes military and humanitarian demining safer and more efficient. Technology developed by the program is saving lives in 10+ countries, including Ukraine.
The $23 million included in the committee’s recommendations is a $2 million increase from last year’s $21 million allocation and $14 million above the President's Budget.
