Land is life. But if it contains mines, it causes death.
Mahady, Taysir, Jordan Valley
Prior to the 1967 war, the Jordanian military laid a series of minefields in the West Bank to protect their police and military posts. More than 50 years later, those minefields continue to threaten lives, livelihoods, and contribute to instability in the region. In 2014, with support from both Israeli and Palestinian authorities, The HALO Trust began clearing the 13 Jordanian laid minefields that affect Palestinian communities. Today, six remain to be cleared.
Landmines left from old wars are taking the lives of a new generation. Watch the film to see the impact HALO has made in the West Bank, and the work that remains to be done.
